Netflix, said on last Friday via Variety that it would not move forward with any version of “House of Cards” that includes Spacey — and that it would cancel the Gore Vidal biopic, “Gore,” which was set to star the two-time Oscar-winning actor.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” a spokesman for Netflix said in a statement. “We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.”
CNN reported on thursday, ''Kevin Spacey made the set of Netflix's "House of Cards" into a "toxic" work environment through a pattern of sexual harassment, eight people who currently work on the show or worked on it in the past tell CNN. One former employee told CNN that Spacey sexually assaulted him.''
Set in Washington, D.C., House of Cards is the story of a Congressman (Kevin Spacey), who initiates an elaborate plan to attain power, aided by his wife. The series deals with themes of ruthless pragmatism, manipulation, and power.Spacey would surely need all the aids he could to pull through the fall from grace.
